Reaper and Apprentice

My first piece of fan art for Dave Hopkins' long-running, plot-driven comic "Jack".

Here we have Jack and Lita, with Lita as Jack's apprentice. Given that she'd willingly go to Hell just to get vengeance on her father, Drip, and the fact that Jack is both the Sin of Wrath and the Grim Reaper, this seemed like a logical outcome.

I love the looks on Jack and Lita's faces in this image. Jack's just ruined Drip's day and he knows it. As for Lita, well, if she turned up with an expression like that on her face, I'd be very worried.

Dave's organic style of drawing makes replicating his characters very difficult. While the image may look fairly simple, it actually took a lot of trial-and-error and several days of work to get it done. Lita's eyes in this image are based on a rare occurrence of how Jack's eyes look when he's really mad. The main difference between Lita's here and Jack's in the comic is that Lita's eyes here are white with red pupils, while Jack's "rage mode" eyes are black with red pupils.
